The Joy of Discovering New Music

It's nice when a song you're hearing for the first time instantly clicks.

I heard Hope Tala's Leave It on the Dancefloor this morning while making a maiden smoothie with peanut M&Ms ('cause that's how I roll), and let me say the righteous combo started my day off right.

Tala's music straddles multiple worlds, blending R&B, bossa nova, and indie pop in a laid-back, sophisticated way. I felt a blend of nostalgia and modern energy. "Shake off your worries, surrender to the rhythm," she says (through the music). A solid recipe for joy.
