From Disgrace by J.M. Coetzee:

After a certain age one is simply no longer appealing, and that’s that. One just has to buckle down and live out the rest of one’s life.

Serve one’s time.

5/1-6/30/22: Nada on my mind.

4/2/22: Can’t stop thinking about whether it’d be helpful or harmful to deal with sadness and grief by severing your personal life memory from your work life memory. Time heals, so if you’re subtracting 8 hours a day, 5 days a week from your healing process, is that really helpful?

4/1/22: New album from Red Hot Chili Peppers just dropped. Time to savor the melodies and interpret the lyrics; develop an ear for something fresh. Time to remember albums and stereos and cassettes and CDs and Walkmans and resent the spoils of Apple Music. (Here Ever Afterrocks.)

4/1/22: I’ve been using pretty much the same ingredients in the smoothies I’ve been drinking for more than three years: spinach, blueberries, a banana, a chocolate-flavored Ensure, some soy milk, peanut butter, a splash of water and a dollop of strawberry yogurt. A healthy rut is still a rut.
